How Park Store Unified Retail, Wholesale, and Internal Purchasing on Shopify

Park Store previously managed retail sales on Shopify while wholesale and internal employee purchasing operated through separate Volusion websites.

With B2Bridge, the organization brought all three purchasing workflows into one Shopify store—while preserving customer-specific pricing, net payment terms, controlled product access, departmental approvals, and specialized checkout requirements.

About Park Store

Park Store is operated by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The organization offers books, apparel, gifts, educational products, and park-inspired merchandise connected to destinations such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, and the Presidio.

Every purchase supports conservation, habitat restoration, educational programs, and improved visitor experiences across the Golden Gate national parks.

The challenge

Park Store needed to consolidate three different ecommerce operations into Shopify without forcing every customer through the same pricing, catalog, payment, and approval process.

The organization faced four major challenges.

How the solution work?

B2Bridge customized Park Store’s Shopify setup around its wholesale, employee, and departmental purchasing requirements.

USE CASE #1

Bringing Wholesale Ordering Into Shopify

B2Bridge created a controlled wholesale workflow inside the existing Shopify store. Prospective wholesale customers apply through a dedicated registration form and upload their reseller or tax documentation. Park Store staff review each application before approving access.

Once approved, wholesale buyers can:

  • Log in to access the private wholesale catalog
  • View their assigned wholesale pricing
  • Place orders using net payment terms
  • Submit orders without paying immediately
  • Receive an invoice after shipping and order details are finalized

Instead of sending orders directly into standard fulfillment, wholesale purchases follow a draft order workflow. This allows Park Store staff to:

  • Review submitted products and quantities
  • Adjust an order when inventory changes
  • Select the correct shipping method
  • Add shipping costs after packing
  • Send the final invoice to the customer

During checkout, the shipping fee is displayed as TBD — To Be Determined rather than showing an inaccurate rate.

Outcome: Park Store preserved its existing wholesale payment and fulfillment process while moving the operation from Volusion into Shopify.

USE CASE #2

Applying Two Price Lists to One Employee Account

B2Bridge introduced a custom cart experience that allows employees to select the purpose of their purchase.

Employees choose between:

Personal Employee Purchase

  • Employee discount pricing is applied
  • Standard Shopify checkout is used
  • Payment is completed immediately by credit card
  • The order follows the normal fulfillment workflow

Department Purchase

  • Department-specific pricing is applied from a dedicated price list
  • Additional department fields appear during checkout
  • No payment is collected when the order is submitted
  • The accounting team reviews and processes the internal charge

The selected purchasing context determines both the price list and the checkout workflow.

Outcome: One employee account can support two pricing models, two payment processes, and two accounting workflows without requiring duplicate accounts or separate stores.

USE CASE #3

Restricting Products by Customer Group and Purchase Type

B2Bridge configured product visibility rules based on customer groups, product tags, and purchasing context.

The final setup allows Park Store to:

  • Display wholesale products only to approved B2B accounts
  • Hide approximately 200 B2B products from public visitors
  • Restrict uniform-tagged products to authorized department purchases
  • Prevent restricted products from appearing in storefront search
  • Keep retail and personal employee shopping experiences unaffected

The product catalog changes automatically based on who is logged in and how they are purchasing.

Outcome: Each audience sees only the products they are authorized to purchase, reducing ordering mistakes and protecting restricted catalogs.

USE CASE #4

Building a Department Purchasing Checkout

For department purchases, B2Bridge created a custom checkout flow that collects the information Park Store’s accounting team needs to validate each request. Employees provide the relevant department, account, project, location, and grant information before submitting an order.

The checkout also supports approved shipping locations and applies the appropriate tax logic based on the selected destination. Once submitted, the order is routed for internal review rather than immediate payment.

Outcome: Park Store recreated its internal procurement and accounting workflow directly inside Shopify instead of coordinating requests manually across separate systems.

The Impact

By implementing B2Bridge, Park Store brought retail, wholesale, employee, and department purchasing into one Shopify environment. The final solution provides:
